Becoming a Vitality Guru means mastering the platform and its benefits to improve both your own health and financial well-being whilst maximizing your benefits. Understanding Vitality's core principles will most definitely help you achieve these results while at the same time, finding fulfillment, excitement and satisfaction from your effort and choices made.

Here's what to do:

1. Know the various categories where points are allocated and earned. We love to keep this simple and break it down the following way for clients

Know your health and earn up to 25 000 points

Get active and earn up to 30 000 points

Eat well and earn up to 12 000 points

2.  Now that you know the categories, understand how to earn points within those categories

Know your health 

Having your annual health check done at a registered partner or pharmacist ( Clicks , Dishcem or participating pharmacies ). Remember this is free of charge if you're a Discovery Health member and can also be done in the comfort of your home if desired as well. Have gender specific screenings done such as mammograms, pap smear, PSA. Complete your Vitality Age assessment online and lastly, have your annual dentist check done.

Get Active

Engaging in physical activity provides both physical and mental health. Get active by visiting the gym, registering workouts for 30mins + or enjoy the social aspect of golfing, playing padel or attending the weekly park run in your area. This is made a lot easier when engaging clients utilize a device to track such ( Apple watch, Garmins, Fitbit etc. )

Eat Healthy

Shop at Checkers or Woolworths ? Then keep an eye on the Vitality marked healthy food items and get 20 points for every health food item purchased but please do remember for every unhealthy item purchased, a healthy items get marked off, so purchase wisely. 

3. Now that you're earning points, what does that mean ?

There are 5 status tiers which are made up of Blue, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond with Blue being your starting status and Diamond being the max status achievable.

The points you accumulate directly translate into your status given which in turn dictates what benefits you receive and the relevant strength of those benefits. As the year progresses, you earn points based on your engagement and you status changes accordingly. The points and status you end the year on, will be your starting status for the following year. The table below outlines the points required per status based on whether you're an individual or if there is more than one member on Vitality. NB! A member refers to anyone over the age of 18. Example, If there were 2 adults with 2 children who are both under 18, between the adults, 80 000 points would be required to reach Gold and not 80 000 + 20 000 + 20 000

4. Know you understand your points and status, what are my benefits ?

Receive up to 25% in cashback on healthy food and care items purchased monthly

Receive up to 25% off flights, car hire and hotel accommodation  

Instantly get 75% off your Virgin Active or Planet Fitness gym membership fees regardless of your Vitality status

The rewards stated above are but a few and only take into account that you're a Vitality member only via Discovery Health or Discovery Life.
